These beautiful necklaces come from Papua and are handmade with shells and a natural fibre.
The shells represent prosperity and are often used during wedding ceremonies, believed to bring emotional and financial wealth to the couple.
Shell necklaces have since ancient times been worn by the people of Papua to enhance the body as well as marking status and achievements. With the shell’s strong mythological importance they were considered to be the links between the human and the spiritual world, bringing fertility and well-being.
In the past, shells travelled on long pathways through the Asian Pacific, used as exchange items or currency
and for creating ties and relationships between people.
They come complete with their black metal stands and their stories printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope.

This snuff bottle from China is hand carved in Buffalo Bone and engraved with a Kamasutra motif. It's encapsulated inside a black and gold colored wooden frame with a white fabric base and cream colored passe-partout.
The Kamasutra positions on the bottles vary from bottle to bottle and when you order you will receive one of the intriguing motifs.
Snuff bottles were used in the Chinese Qing Dynasty
from the mid 1600’s until the beginning of the 19th century.
They were made to hold powdered tobacco which was inhaled through the nose.
For the first hundred years from the 1600's tobacco was very expensive in China so taking snuff was an exclusive habit which started in the imperial court,
only accessible to the upper part of the imperial family and the most influential people.
A man would bring out his bottle when he was with other men and offer them some snuff. This was not only a way of sharing but also a way of showing off his beautiful bottle.
It wasn’t until the 19th century that snuff tobacco and bottles were accessible to the general population.
The Kama Sutra is an ancient Indian text, a synonym for creative sexual positions as well as the philosophy and theory of love, what triggers desire and what sustains it.
It comes complete with its story printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope.
