Hand Carved, Wooden Dayak Shield from Borneo

This Beautiful shield is carved by hand out of Ironwood and comes from the island of Kalimantan in Indonesia. The carving depicts traditional, ornamental motifs from the area.
Shields like these were used by the Dayak people in the traditional war dances and is today very much part of their cultural heritage. In the past the Dayak people were one of the most famous warrior tribes in Asia
It comes complete with a blackened metal stand and it's story printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope. Being artisan crafted each shield is slightly different.
