Garuda's wings from Java

This spectacular sculpture of Garuda’s wings was hand carved in wood by local artisans on the island of Java, made with ancient techniques.
The Garuda is a legendary creature described as the king of birds. He’s known as a protector with incredible powers to fight injustice and destroy evil, a symbol of great force and speed. In countless stories around Southeast Asia Garuda also symbolizes the virtue of knowledge, bravery, loyalty, and discipline. He’s had a great cultural importance in Indonesia since antiquity and is the country’s national symbol.
The sculpture comes complete on a black metal stand and its story printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope. Being artisan crafted each piece is slightly different and each has natural, visible cracks as beautiful signs of the aging of the wood.
