Frame with Tribal Duri Duri Earring from Sumatra

This earring called Duri-Duri
is handmade in brass and comes from the island of Sumatra in Indonesia.  Since ancient times it has been worn by either men or women of the Toba Batak People
as a symbol of fertility and of the unisex.

It's encapsulated inside a black and gold coloured wooden frame with a white fabric base and cream coloured passe-partout.

Duri-duri means thorns, describing the pronged phallic shapes in the earring
while the omega form takes on the symbolism of the female sex. Combined they represent the perfect union of the sexes.

The frame comes complete with it's story printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope.

A perfect gift for yourself or someone who has entered a perfect union!
