Vintage Bronze Archer Figure (Rama)
A SYMBOL OF PURPOSE AND COURAGE
Made in Bali in the mid-1900s, this bronze archer represents one of the great heroes of Hindu tradition. The figure is linked to Rama from the Ramayana — a story that is still part of everyday life in Bali through dance, temple ceremonies, and shadow theatre.
Rama stands for dharma: doing what is right, even when it is difficult. The bow is a symbol of readiness and responsibility. It represents strength guided by principle.
Balinese metalworkers used the traditional lost-wax method, shaping the form in wax, covering it in clay, and pouring molten bronze alloy into the mold. This technique allows fine detail while preserving the character of handmade work.
The sculpture is mounted on a thick black metal support and comes with its printed story enclosed in a refined envelope.
As a natural characteristic of bronze, the patina may continue to evolve subtly over time, developing gentle variations in tone that are part of the material’s authentic ageing process.
