A SYMBOL OF CREATION AND DIVINE KNOWLEDGE

In Hindu tradition, Brahma represents the force from which all creation emerges.

Created during the late 20th century, this vintage bronze sculpture portrays Brahma, the Hindu god of creation and one of the principal deities of the Trimurti. Across centuries of Hindu tradition, Brahma has been revered as the divine source of the universe, associated with wisdom, sacred knowledge, and the cosmic order that governs all existence.

The figure is represented with multiple faces, a powerful symbol of all-encompassing awareness. Traditionally, these faces are associated with the four Vedas, the foundational sacred texts of Hinduism, as well as the four cardinal directions, expressing Brahma's ability to perceive the world in its entirety.

The multiple arms further emphasize his divine nature. Each hand traditionally carries symbolic attributes connected to creation, wisdom, spiritual discipline, and the preservation of sacred knowledge. Together, they convey a deity whose influence extends far beyond the limitations of the human world.

The elaborate crown, ceremonial ornaments, and refined details reflect the artistic traditions that flourished across Southeast Asia, where Hindu and Buddhist influences often merged to create some of the region's most remarkable sacred art. Despite the complexity of the composition, the figure maintains a sense of balance and serenity that gives the sculpture a timeless presence.

Cast in bronze using traditional lost-wax casting techniques and finished with a richly aged verdigris patina, the sculpture possesses depth, character, and visual strength. The natural variations in color and texture enhance the details of the figure and contribute to its distinctive appearance.

The statue comes complete on its blackened metal support and with its printed story inside a beautiful envelope.

As a natural characteristic of bronze, the patina may continue to evolve subtly over time, developing gentle variations in tone that are part of the material’s authentic ageing process.
