Bali: Art, Craftsmanship and Our Connection to the Island
We had the privilege of living and working in Bali for eight years. The island holds a special place in our story: its art, craftsmanship and everyday surroundings are part of the experience we bring to Kirschon.
Art beyond decoration
Woodcarving is one of Bali’s established crafts. Alongside decorative work, it has spiritual and ceremonial roles. Seeing an object in its cultural setting encourages us to look beyond its surface and consider how it was made and what it represents.
Looking closely at craftsmanship
When choosing a piece for an interior, take time to look at its proportions, carved details and finish. Natural variation and the marks of handwork can give an object character; they should be understood alongside its condition, material and documented origin.
A quiet setting allows these details to stand out. A sculpture or ornament can be placed with a few books or a simple arrangement of natural materials, leaving space around it so its form can be appreciated.
Bali and the Kirschon selection
Our collection brings together pieces from different parts of Asia. Bali is one part of that story, and each object should be considered through the origin and information given on its own product page.
