This beautiful set was made in brass by local artisans on the island of Timor in Indonesia, created as per ancient techniques.

Discs like these were given to warriors upon their successful returns as a reward, and later worn as a symbol of prestige during ceremonies. The designs on the plate are celestial ornaments, evoking the cosmos.
As per antique tradition they were also presented as bride price in marriage contracts, paid by a groom or his family to the family of the woman he wanted to marry.

The breast plates come complete with black metal stands and their story printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope.

The silvery discs feature a selection of traditional motifs, with the decorative patterns varying slightly from piece to piece while the overall design, colour and character remain consistent with those shown. As each piece is individually artisan crafted, subtle variations and natural imperfections in the surface and finishing are part of its authentic character.

The handmade metal supports may also show slight irregularities and variations in their finish, reflecting the handcrafted nature of each set.
