A SYMBOL OF CONTINUOUS WISDOM

Inspired by the sacred traditions of the ancient Mon-Dvaravati kingdom, this bronze Buddha reflects a long lineage of devotional art and sublime craftsmanship.

The figure is depicted with both hands symmetrically raised in the Vitarka Mudra, the ancient gesture of teaching, intellectual discussion, and the transmission of the Buddha's teachings (Dharma). The touching of the thumbs and index fingers forms the wheel of law, symbolizing the continuous flow of wisdom and energy.

This unique dual gesture expresses a powerful sense of universal instruction and inner clarity. Rather than offering passive protection, the twin mudras invite contemplation, open discussion, and the peaceful clearing of ignorance through knowledge. The symmetry conveys perfect balance, creating a presence that feels deeply intellectual yet profoundly serene.

Dvaravati Buddhist art flourished in Central Thailand for centuries, leaving an indelible mark on Southeast Asian art history. Sculptures such as this honor that legendary aesthetic through a graceful, columnar silhouette, form-fitting robes, and a composed facial expression that exudes timeless harmony.

The Buddha comes complete on its blackened metal support and with its printed story inside a beautiful envelope.

As a natural characteristic of bronze, the patina may continue to evolve subtly over time, developing gentle variations in tone that are part of the material’s authentic ageing process.
