A SYMBOL OF WISDOM AND GOOD FORTUNE

This vintage bronze sculpture represents Ganesha, the beloved Hindu deity known for removing obstacles and guiding new beginnings. With his elephant head and calm, grounded presence, Ganesha has long symbolized wisdom, protection, and good fortune.

In Java, Ganesha has been part of spiritual life for centuries. His image appears in temples and sacred spaces where he is honored as a guardian of knowledge and a guide through life’s challenges.

The sculpture shows Ganesha seated on a lotus base, one hand raised in a gesture of blessing while the others hold symbolic objects connected to prosperity and understanding. The figure carries a strong yet peaceful presence.

Javanese artisans created sculptures like this using the traditional lost-wax casting technique. The form is first modeled in wax, then covered in clay before molten bronze is poured into the mold. This method allows fine details to emerge while preserving the character of handmade work.

The sculpture is mounted on a blackened metal support and comes with its printed story enclosed in an elegant envelope.

As a natural characteristic of bronze, the patina may continue to evolve subtly over time, developing gentle variations in tone that are part of the material’s authentic ageing process.
