Siwa stone statue from Java
A SYMBOL OF COMPLETION
This beautiful statue was hand carved in stone by local artisans on the island of Java in Indonesia, made as per ancient techniques.
Siwa is a Balinese god representing divinity and for the Balinese the totality of all forces called God. Siwa is the source of all life and the powers in nature. In him are the two sexes in one, being the ultimate symbol of completion. As male Siwa is the mountain, the father of all humanity, he’s all phallic symbols, the sun, space, the supreme teacher and the maker of the world. As female Siwa is mother of all nature, goddess of the mountains, and the female deities of rivers and lakes. His male and female sides are forever united for the eternal reproduction of the universe.
This one-of-a-kind statue highlights the natural beauty of the stone, celebrating its organic imperfections. It comes with a printed story enclosed in a beautiful envelope, along with a handcrafted blackened metal stand. The stand itself bears quiet authenticity, featuring subtle irregularities and the potential to develop a natural patina over time.
