A SUCCESSFUL LIFE
This striking suite includes a set of 2 peacock feathers, and a set of 2 Kalabubu necklaces, complete with the blackened metal supports.
The feathers come from the island of Java and are considered powerful and mythical symbols in many different cultures of the world. The peacock feather is said to absorb negative energies, protect the wearer from any bad happenings and bringing good luck. The peacock is also believed to be the manifestation of the celestial phoenix bird, and its feathers are often recommended in Feng Shui as a love cure.
The spectacular set of neck rings comes from the Indonesian island of Nias, where for centuries it has been one of the island's most distinctive cultural treasures and a symbol of honour, prestige and identity. Worn only by respected members of the community, it represented courage, achievement and the esteem of one's peers.
Its bold, sculptural form is unmistakable. Passed down through generations, the Kalabubu has become an enduring symbol of the island's rich cultural heritage and the remarkable craftsmanship for which Nias is known.
Crafted from coconut shell and finished with solid brass details, every Kalabubu is made by skilled artisans on Nias Island using traditional techniques that have been preserved for generations. Each individual element is carefully cut, shaped, polished and assembled by hand—a time-intensive process that few artisans still practice today.
The suite comes complete on black metal stands and its stories printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope. Being artisan crafted, every piece is an original, showcasing the natural beauty of the materials with organic imperfections. The handmade metal supports carry their own authenticity, with imperfections and the potential for a natural patina to emerge over time. Books not included.
