ETERNAL LIFE AND LUCK

This beautiful ensemble includes a large cowrie shell necklace and a set of 3 peacock feathers, complete with the blackened metal supports.

The necklace comes from Papua New Guinea and is handmade with Cowrie shells that have been embroidered onto a crochet base made out of natural fibre. In Papua this type of necklace is used during ceremonies and is custom-made for each person, Its round outside shape symbolizes the universe,
while the circular hole in the center is a symbol of the opening to eternal life. It is believed to bring the wearer a happy life and protection. Natural seashells have always played a crucial role in ceremonial traditions in Papua. With their strong mythological importance they were considered to be the links between the human and the spiritual world, bringing fertility and well-being. In the past, shells traveled on long pathways through the Asian Pacific, used as exchange items or currency and for creating ties and relationships between people.

The feathers come from the island of Java and are considered a powerful and mythical symbol in many different cultures of the world. The peacock feather is said to absorb negative energies, protect the wearer from any bad happenings and bringing good luck. The peacock is also believed to be the manifestation of the celestial phoenix bird, and its feathers are often recommended in Feng Shui as a love cure. 

The suite comes with the stories of the artefacts printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope. Being artisan crafted with organic materials, each piece is slightly different containing beautiful, natural imperfections.

• The necklace: stand heights vary between ca 55 and 70cm x ca 40 - 43cm diameter for the necklace 
• The feathers: heights vary between around 43 - 75cm tall with the stand. Each piece is different with a natural, unique motif and divisions/openings in the feathers.
