VINTAGE INDRA - THE WEATHER GOD
A SYMBOL OF BRAVERY
This striking vintage statue was made by artisans in Bali sometimes during the 1960’s, crafted in bronze with ancient techniques.
Indra is the god of thunder, lightning, storms and rain. In his 4 arms he holds weapons used to fight monsters and protect his worshippers against evil force. Indra is the embodiment of leadership, bravery, and divine protection in Balinese Hinduism. He’s invoked during ceremonies to seek his blessings for prosperity, success, and protection from negative forces. Indras ability to control the weather is also crucial for agricultural societies, ensuring fertility and prosperity through rainfall. He is praised as the highest God in the Rigveda, one of the oldest sacred texts of Hinduism.
The statue comes complete on a black metal stand and its story printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope. The handmade metal support carry its own authenticity, with subtle imperfections and the potential for a natural patina to emerge over time.
Dimensions with the stand: 32 x 21 x 11cm
