This striking suite includes a Kuda horse statue and set of 2 swordfish rostrums, complete with the blackened metal supports.

The wooden horse statue (Kuda means horse in Indonesian) was carved by hand by local artisans on the island of Sumba in Indonesia, made as per ancient techniques.

In Sumba horses are considered to be almost at the same level as the ancestors who rule the universe, being used for many purposes, the most important being as a dowry in wedding rituals and as offerings during funeral ceremonies, allowing the dead to ride to their ancestors in the afterlife. The amount of horses a family has represent its social status.

The rostrums come from swordfish deriving from the Indian Ocean. In Asia swordfish are known as bold, fearless and independent animals, who love to swim alone or in very loose aggregations. The swordfish is also associated with emotions and love. Being a symbol of leadership, courage and passion it’s believed that the world is a better place when you have this animal as a guide.

The suite comes with the stories of the artefacts printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope. Being artisan crafted, every piece is an original, with subtle variations in the finishing that highlight the natural beauty of the wood, including its organic imperfections and cracks. The handmade metal supports have their own authentic character, with subtle imperfections and the potential to develop a natural patina over time.

• The horse statue: around 58cm height by 40cm width by 15cm thickness
• The set of 2 swordfish rostrums: heights vary between around 25 - 50 cm tall.  Being organic in nature each rostrum is slightly different in color and shape.
