A PASSIONATE WISH COME TRUE
This bold suite includes a tall feather and shell necklace and a set of 3 swordfish rostrums, complete with the blackened metal supports.
The necklace was made as per ancient techniques with spiral shells, rooster feathers and natural fibre by local artisans on the island of Papua.
On Papua shells represent prosperity and are often used during wedding ceremonies, believed to bring emotional and financial wealth. Here shell necklaces have been worn by local tribes since ancient times, to enhance the body as well as marking status and achievements. With the shell’s strong mythological importance they were considered to be the links between the human and the spiritual world, bringing fertility and well-being. In the past, shells travelled on long pathways through the Asian Pacific, used as exchange items or currency and for creating ties and relationships between people. It was a symbol of the bond between human and nature, used during big ceremonies.
In several myths in Southeast Asia the rooster has the power to revive the dead, or to make a wish come true. It is considered sacred within the spiritual realm.
The rostrums come from swordfish deriving from the Indian Ocean. In Asia swordfish are known as bold, fearless and independent animals, who love to swim alone or in very loose aggregations. The swordfish is also associated with emotions and love. Being a symbol of leadership, courage and passion it’s believed that the world is a better place when you have this animal as a guide.
The suite comes with the stories of the artefacts printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope. Being artisan crafted with organic materials, each piece is slightly different containing beautiful, natural imperfections. Books not included.
