This strong suite includes a bold topeng mask and a set of 2 Labe stone statues, complete with the blackened metal supports.

The wooden mask comes from the beautiful island of Sumba in Indonesia, featuring some of the islands traditional carving motifs. Topeng means mask in Indonesian.
People in Indonesia have been using masks since ancient times,
for harvest festivals, fertility rites, soul catching, death ceremonies and spiritual dances, initiation rites and exorcism rituals. They are believed to scare off evil spirits and sickness as well as protecting from natural disasters like drought and floods.

The set of 2 stone statues was hand carved by local artisans on the island of Sumba in Indonesia, made as per ancient techniques. Labe means pumpkin in Indonesian.
Pumpkins are symbols of prosperity, growth, friendship and family, due to their resilient nature and the way that several fruits are connected through a vine which provides the pumpkins with nutrition from the ground. It’s believed that the pumpkin helps us create lasting, prosperous connections with others.

The suite comes with the stories of the artefacts printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope. Being artisan crafted with organic materials, each piece is slightly different containing beautiful, natural imperfections and visible cracks in the wood. Books not included.
