This striking suite includes a set of 2 Kuda horse statues, complete with the blackened metal supports.

The Kuda (meaning horse in Indonesian) was carved by hand by local artisans on the island of Sumba in Indonesia, made as per ancient techniques. In Sumba horses are considered to be almost at the same level as the ancestors who rule the universe, being used for many purposes, the most important being as a dowry in wedding rituals and as offerings during funeral ceremonies, allowing the dead to ride to their ancestors in the afterlife. The amount of horses a family has represent its social status.

The suite comes complete with the black metal stands and the story of Kuda printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope. Being artisan crafted, every piece is an original, showcasing the natural beauty of the wood with organic imperfections and cracks. Color hues vary from medium to darker browns. The handmade metal supports carriy their own authenticity, with subtle imperfections and the potential for a natural patina to emerge over time.
