This beautiful bronze statue comes from central Java in Indonesia, made sometime between the 1930’s - 1940’s. It's the only piece of its kind in our collection today.

Buddha in this position portrays him as he was towards the end of his life, in a stage of immense redemption only accessible to enlightened beings.It symbolizes that every living thing possesses the ability to become awakened and break free from the cycle of death and rebirth. The image of Reclining Buddha dates back thousands of years. Being against the worship of idols, his portrayal has been through symbols across the millenniums.

Dimensions: 36,5 x 16 x 9,5cm with the metal stand. The statue comes complete with the blackened metal stand and its story printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope.
