SENTINELS OF FRIENDSHIP
This dreamy set includes a set of 2 labe stone statues and a set of 3 tribal totems called Tun Tun, complete with the blackened metal stands.
The labe stone statues were hand carved by local artisans on the island of Sumba in Indonesia, made as per ancient techniques. Labe means pumpkin in Indonesian.
Pumpkins are symbols of prosperity, growth, friendship and family, due to their resilient nature and the way that several fruits are connected through a vine which provides the pumpkins with nutrition from the ground. It’s believed that the pumpkin helps us create lasting, prosperous connections with others.
Also the Tun Tun derive from Sumba and were hand carved in buffalo bone and wood. Since ancient times the Tun Tun have been considered powerful talismans that farmers would bring it to the fields, guiding them to get a good crop. It was also used to protect one’s house, placed in the corners of the roof.
The suite comes complete on the black metal stands and the stories printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope. Being artisan crafted, every piece is an original and slightly different, showcasing the natural beauty of the materials with organic imperfections.
