This set of nose decoration/Septum tusks is carved out of clamshell, deriving from Papua New Guinea.
Since ancient times septum tusks have been worn by different tribes in Papua during important ceremonies, intended to give the wearer power and the appearance of a wild boar. The most notorious tribe known to wear the Septum tusks are the Asmat, the most famous cannibalistic tribe on Papua. The Asmat were also warriors and headhunters who did not only hunt for skulls but also worshipped them, putting them in honourable places in their homes.
The set comes complete on black metal stands and their story printed out for you inside a beautiful envelope. Being artisan crafted, every piece is an original, showcasing the natural beauty of the materials with organic imperfections.
