This beautiful ensemble includes a set of two Naga dragon bracelets from Borneo and a ceremonial brass cuff from Sumatra, each displayed on a handmade blackened metal support.

The Naga — a dragon or serpent figure in Indonesian tradition — bracelets are handmade in brass and originate from Borneo, Indonesia. Traditionally worn as jewellery, they are associated with strong symbolic meaning and, according to local beliefs, magical powers.

The dragon biting its tail recalls the ancient Ouroboros, a symbol of eternity and the infinite cycle of life, death and rebirth — leading to the idea of immortality. It also evokes what existed before any beginning and what continues without end. The Ouroboros has appeared in religious and mythological symbolism since ancient times.

The brass cuff carries the spirit of Sumatra — an island known for strong traditions, expressive craftsmanship, and cultures where ornament and identity have long gone hand in hand.

Across many Sumatran communities, metal adornments have served as markers of presence, confidence and belonging. The bold form and textured surface reveal traditional hammering and embossing techniques, allowing the warm brass to catch the light and giving the piece a naturally sculptural character.

As artisan-crafted objects, each piece is slightly different. The blackened metal supports are individually handmade and may show subtle variations and natural imperfections; they can also develop a natural patina over time. These characteristics are part of the authenticity of handcrafted work.
